The simulations have a dedicated fan base with several websites offering a varying styles of scenarios and discussion forums, especially as the latest edition includes a feature to allow players to create their own scenarios. Often described as a "niche within a niche market," development of the simulation has progressed steadily through the years despite the overwhelming numerical and graphical superiority of first-person shooter and real-time strategy games. Advanced Gaming Systems, Inc. (AGSI), developers of Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare and Harpoon Commander's Edition (with HarpGamer), currently distributes the simulation as a Harpoon Ultimate Edition through Matrix games with technical support handled on a co-operative basis by AGSI, HarpGamer, and Matrix games employees.

@lemmie88 @Lidi_Melo Thanks for the images. Are you also able to provide a video of this issue please. In the video could you also go to your abilities to show which abilities you have equipped and go to your inventory screen so we can see what gear and weapons are equipped. Can you also confirm the following:. Do you have the latest update installed. When did this issue start to occur. Does this happen every time you use the harpoon ability or is it random. Have you tried removing then re-adding the ability. Have you tried changing armour/weapons to see if this has any affect. What level is your harpoon impalement ability
@ubi-keo I played with it and found that the harpoon disappears when I hide the torso armor. Hiding the torso armor makes both the holstered throwing axe and harpoon disappear from Eivor's belt. Unequipping does not produce the same bug. I tried and reproduced it with both the Mentor and Raven armors.. Do you have the latest update installed Yes. When did this issue start to occur I only noticed it since 1.1.2, though I don't use abilities much, so I'm not sure when it started.. Does this happen every time you use the harpoon ability or is it random Every time.. Have you tried removing then re-adding the ability Yes. No effect. Have you tried changing armour/weapons to see if this has any affect Yes.. What level is your harpoon impalement ability 2
It seems the harpoon ability is completely bugged now. When the game launched I don't think there were any problems, but a little while later a patch came out. It seemed the harpoon ability was switched from your pants to your torso chest piece, so anytime you hide the torso chest peace your harpoon would disappear as well. Now after update 1.3.1, the harpoon ability is completely disappeared, so anytime you use it you throw out an invisible harpoon. It does not matter if you have your full armor set on or try and hide some pieces of armor.Platform: Xbox Series X Here are some video clips of what's happening
Hey @gladi8ordude ,Thank you for reaching out to us with this and for including clips, it's appreciated! This issue is known and being looked into but additional reports and clips are always appreciated for us to pass on, which I have done. Should there be any news, we'll update the forums so watch this space and if there's anything more we can help with in the meantime, please let us know!
@ubi-theberry I have a related issue:The left joystick does not seem to do anything even though it's supposed to be used to control the direction of the harpooned enemy.I have the upgrade and all it does is pull the victim toward Eivor so he/she can whack of the victim's head.Tres Cool but a Master Challenge depends on the ability to redirect the vic5tim.
@procadman I'm sorry to hear that you are unable to throw the enemy in any direction. Is your harpoon invisible too? Can you also confirm which level your Harpoon Impalement ability is, 1 or 2? @azullfr Thanks for the information, I will forward this on to the development team.
@ubi-theberry @Ubi-Keo After update 1.4.0 the harpoon ability still seems to be invisible. I was wondering if this issue is still being looked at and if there may be an ETA on a fix. Thanks
@Ubi-Keo @Ubi-TheBerry Hey there Wanted to add this in this thread. The other day I was testing out some things to see if I could get the harpoon to reappear. The only thing I found was when I went to Vinland harpoon appeared and I could use it on enemies like intended. Every other location in the game seems to be invisible still including all DLC locations.Below are video clips to show what's happening
@Ubi-Keo @Ubi-TheBerry Hey there again,I have been doing some more testing and found some new info. I start a new game a couple of days ago to see if this would change anything about the harpoon being invisible. Good News! It worked and the harpoon is now visible on the side of Eivor or when in use. This goes for the first upgrade as well as the second one. This makes me think that there is something in the game at some point that suddenly makes it go invisible for some reason. My main save game is still having the invisible harpoon problem. Hope this helpBelow are video clips of Harpoon Ability one & two right after I got them
@gladi8ordude Great find. Yes, I noticed when I did the fighting cutscene with Hildiran, my missing harpoon actually came back. Unfortunately, I didn't pay much attention and stopped playing. When I came back for 1.4.0, it was gone again. I'm wondering if it's a fight/cutscene that starts it.
@lemmie88 That's funny you say that. There was a bug with Mjolnir where the lighting effect disappeared and by talking to Hildiran it would reappear. I have talked to Hildiran and backing out, but it does not help make the harpoon reappear, unfortunately. Hope there is a fix at some point.
Believe me, I'm ambivalent on those grounds alone. If I pitched it to my GM, I'd do so with self-limiting caveats: e.g., limiting use of the feat to the spear's first range increment, with rope (or light metal chain) attached to yank it back.Hmmm, I just described a harpoon ...
... which, actually, might not be a bad idea. Harpoon just makes me said. Have to be proficient with it to do anything harpoon-like... which is fine... except it's an Exotic weapon... unless you don't know how to use it... then it just counts as a spear. Plus it's two-handed.Harpoon rant: ------------------------------------------------ Then you have to actually critically hit (and it only has a threat range of 20) to be able to grapple anything. That's so silly when you think about it, you'd wonder why harpoons were ever even used or how they would work with a less than 5% chance to 'harpoon' (getting the threat and then still having to confirm it). Imagine that, the best, most skilled and well-trained whaler or harpooner in the world... has a 5% to actually harpoon something... ever (unless they have Improved Critical, which requires a +8 BAB, which means you assume every skilled harpooner is at least an 8th-level fighter or equivalent).
Looking at other grapple weapons, most of them have special rules, like a garrote. You can't even really attack someone with it, they already have to be unaware. Or a mancatcher, that has a touch attack. But for harpoon... they make it so utterly unreasonable to be able to harpoon something. Was hugely disappointed with it.-----------------------------------------------------------
Based on that description you grapple the target only if it is within reach. Works if you are fishing all or smaller fish, not if you are whaling. But whales aren't grappled (the game mechanics), they are harpooned, which will require something very different from the grappling rules to describe it in the game.
Exactly... and you don't use a harpoon to hunt small fish... or even normal fish. You would use a spear... spear fishing. Even fish you need a speargun for is still spear fishing. We use harpoons on things we want to keep from running away or escaping because they aren't skewered on a spear and basically dead. Big things, like whales. And yes, harpooning should be different from grappling... but they just shoehorned it in with their newly created grapple category. There's a difference between something that just snags or holds or entangles (the term, not the condition) a target and grapples them, and something that literally skewers or impales and spikes a target.
Harpoon Rant II: ----------------------------------------- There's not even damage for ripping the harpoon out. Maybe a little bleed damage while it's in there or ripped out?... it's just a simple 'escape from grapple' check. Really, can you picture any whales in the world not succeeding against any man holding a harpoon?
