There is nothing illegal about using BitTorrent for this purpose and it is very safe. If you are new to BitTorrent, I would recommend the qBittorrent client ( ) , which is an excellent, open source, BitTorrent client. It is very simple to use and doesn't come with any spyware or anything like that.
Question: I have a Mac and have problems with converting files, torrent client, etc.Answer: Unfortunately, I'm not a Mac person and cannot offer any help on Mac issues. It does seem like Macs have some difficulty with the process in general. Try posting your question in the Comments section and maybe someone else can help you.
For just the Great Lakes area it was around 30gb of files. I have a fairly new computer. A ryzen 3600 (12 logical cores), 2070 nvidia video card and a 100mb internet connection. It took me an hour to download the torrent, about 20 minutes to unzip and transfer the files and 2 hours to convert all the images. I would warn someone thinking of doing this that means your computer is going to run balls to the wall for 2 hours or more. If your computer doesn't run really stable or has issues with heat I would suggest solving those problems first or this is going to be a nightmare. And you probably won't be playing any games or anything while it doing it. And if you think you are going to do the whole United States you better have a good, decent sized drive to dedicate to it and a LOT of time lol. I was going to add California and Nevada too since I used to live there too and I like flying in that area. Not so sure now after considering the time and hard drive space required. I am guessing that is going to be 3 times the time and space. I might just make do until FS2020 comes out.
Performance wise it didn't effect my FPS at all, it actually went up a little in some areas. I installed it on a fresh version of the X Plane 11 steam version with no mods. I flew the same flight plan with the same plane before and after the mod. I was getting like 50 to 100 fps before and between 60 and 100 after. Plenty considering I lock it at 30 fps when I actually play it. I did notice it has some micro stutters that it didn't have before though. I will try to tune them out and if I can't it isn't anything I can't live with. My settings are pretty high though. I know it seems like I am whining, and I don't want to come accross that way. I am just giving my honest opinion. The truth is this is FREE for crying out loud! It looks and works better than some stuff I paid good money for in FSX, and was easier to install. If you have the time and hard drive space it is worth at least trying out one area to see if you like it.
Absolutely terrific job. After trying one file out I bought a 4TB hard drive and have downloaded all the scenery (but am still rendering all of them) and have my torrent client hosting the files on a backup computer 24/7 to pay back the community. Thanks so much!
Great project. Looking forward to the color corrected versions, I see a lot of \"pink\" where there should be blacks or grays (use mainly mid-West). I've torrent downloaded 26Gb and seeded over 900Gb back to community and will keep doing it!
Within XP11, I've now setup all of my planes with X-Camera and find its features very useful and functional. Flying these simulators for me is more than just programming the FMC and adjusting the autopilot. I like to look around at scenery and watch how my plane is flying approaches from all different angles. I've mapped my joystick and mouse to move around the cockpit effortlessly to control the plane, and the new mini-panel is great for selecting specific views without having to cycle through them. I thought XP10 and XP11's built-in camera system was simple and easy; but X-Camera really enhances the total experience that most of us are looking for in a flight sim. I made a donation to the developer to get the registered version because this is a must-have tool for me.
Airports and aircraft are full of lush detail, but the real kicker here are the over ten thousand routes players can fly with planes ranging from small two-seaters to huge airliners. There are even pilotable helicopters, alongside fighter jets and more.
Gleim recommends the use of a control yoke and rudder pedals. While X-Plane does allow you to fly using the mouse, it's much more beneficial to your training to use flight controls that are similar to what you will be using in the actual airplane.
We provide a simple command line tool called convert424toxplane that is available free of charge. With this tool, data providers can convert 424.18+ files into navdata guaranteed to be compatible with X-Plane 12 and X-Plane mobile.
Do not try to create or edit XPNAV1100/XPFIX1100/XPAWY1100/XPHOLD1140 files by hand. While the format is reasonably human-readable, the data integrity assumptions that are inherent are easily overlooked. Always edit the data in a 424 file, using a tool like the ARINCDecoder v4.3, to ensure validity. Then export the data to X-Plane using the convert424toxplane command line tool.
To make using and grabbing those 174 torrent files much easier, we are now offering a single ZIP file containing all 174 torrents at once (the ZIP file is only about 2,5 MBytes). You can grab the at one of these mirrors here and feed the torrent files in what ever client you use :

The Turbolet was the first plane I could check out close up and touch as a kid. That one was used to drop parachuters at a small airfield. Sadly that time it was out of service due to money problems.
The Let 410 departed Bucharests domestic airport Baneasa for a regular mail flight to Iasi. Weather was poor as the aircraft arrived near Iasi. Snowfall limited the visibility to approximately 2 kilometers with a temperature of -4C. The first attempt to land was reportedly aborted. On the second attempt the airplane crashed near a road short of the runway. (from ASN)
In addition to pure simulator pilots, XMapsy V3 is also used by many real GA- and airline-pilots for their training.Real pilots appreciate the possibility of being able to use the Apps they used on the plane also on the simulator. But even simulator pilots can use a variety of professional aviation apps for moving maps, flight planning, synthetic vision or weather to make the simulator experience even more realistic.

Flight simulators are the perfect option for aviation enthusiasts who are stuck at home. You can take control of your favorite plane with true-to-life cockpits, fly in and out of popular airports, navigate real-life weather models, and experience incredibly detailed 3D graphics.
The game offers 200 different airport destinations that you can fly into along with planes like the Robin DR-400 for sightseeing, the Extra 330 for aerobatic skills, or the F-18 for high-speed flying.
With FlyInside, you can slip on a VR headset and feel as though you are truly flying your favorite plane. While you can still play the game in the desktop version, the best flying experience comes from the full immersion using a VR motion controller and headset.
The controls are a bit more barebones and not as involved as other options on this list, but this does make the learning curve quite a bit easier for those just looking for a fun airplane combat experience.
X-Plane comes with subsonic and supersonic flight dynamics, sporting aircraft from the Bell 206 Jet-Ranger helicopter and Cessna 172 light plane to the supersonic Concorde and Mach-3 XB-70 Valkyrie. X-Plane comes with about 40 aircraft spanning the aviation industry (and history), and several hundred more are freely downloadable from the internet. 1e1e36bf2d
